WHEN I WAS YOUNGER

Ben Shive and I have been wrapping up this CALEB record that's going to be called "WHEN I WAS YOUNGER." making final choices and last minute ideas are some of my favorite moments in the whole process.

we have tried our best to take chances with the production on this record. there are a lot of lyrical and musical threads that are woven through the whole thing. to me, it is meant to be played on the whole, but you won't be lost to jump in anywhere.

F. Reid Shippen is mixing this whole record and we're really excited about that! he mixed the first 5 songs for us on CALEB's last EP "To The Ends Of The World," and it's great to have him on board.

RWANDA

I received a call a few weeks ago to go to Rwanda and be a part of a video crew doing  documentary work for a non-profit that's doing great things there.   Recording albums and doing 'audio for video' are not very similar, but I enjoyed it so much.    The people of Rwanda have faced unimaginable pain because of the genocide that happened in 1994.   1 million people killed in 100 days.   I still can't process that.

My work there was very heavy, but the stories of reconciliation were beautiful.   I ran around with a sweet Sound Devices audio rig and did my best to capture everything.   Thanks to Contrast Films for hiring me.

CALEB

In October, I began work on a full-length record with a band from Franklin, TN, called CALEB.   I am co-producing this record with the SUPER talented Ben Shive.   This has been some of the most fun times of tracking I have ever had.   The songs are so much fun, and the band is unbelievably talented.

We have all juggled our schedules, and taken our time, to make the best record we can make.   I can't wait for everyone to hear these songs.

CLEMENCY

These guys are so ridiculously great.   Clemency is a band of two brothers - Jason and Paul Watkins.   They make unbelievable music that is a 'reflection of love, life, and redemption' - in their words.   And, they are the coolest people in the world.

If you haven't heard them before, go check out their stunning new website and watch the videos that they released with their most recent album "My Heart Is The Eastern Horizon."   If you like what you see, you can buy straight off of their site.

They are about to begin a new project that I am very excited to be a part of on guitar, and -  if I know myself, probably a bunch of other random instruments.
